so Melancholia was really nice, even though i don’t understand why Kirsten Dunst is getting allll the hype when Charlotte Gainsbourg carried the movie BUT ANYWAY maybe i’m a bad person or shallow or whatever but i thought the saddest part at the end was that they lost their gorgeous castle house and all of that nice wicker furniture and those nice knit wardrobes. also, i know the point was that it doesn’t really matter how you spend your last moments (hence the “magic cave” they built) but charlotte gainsbourg had the best idea because the best way to end the world is with a glass of wine on a terrace listening to beethoven.

also, the mood was ruined during the movie because at the beginning, when they were showing all of the gorgeous parts, the film melted on-screen because the projector malfunctioned and i got really pissed and thought this was some statement Lars Von Trier was trying to make, because you know he would, but it was really just a machine fuck-up. also everyone in the theatre kept laughing at the saddest parts and at one point this older woman next to me said “THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE YET” in a loud yell-whisper.

but anyway, it was good, but not as good as Antichrist.
